Erma Jean was born on January 11, 1959 in a small town in southern Georgia called Valdosta. When Erma Jean was only a year old, her mom (Tenola) passed away suddenly. Her mom and dad (Willie) had six older children at the time, and her dad’s sister (Ruthie Mae) stepped up to help him raise his babies.

Willie and Ruthie Mae were the children of a full-blooded Cherokee woman named Miss Pearlie. Miss Pearlie taught Ruthie Mae the secrets of holistic healing and Ruthie Mae passed the secrets down to Erma Jean. In turn, Erma Jean raised her two sons to rely on the healing powers of nature: to take seasonal laxatives, to use red clay and vinegar to heal ankle sprains, to use clove oil to soothe toothaches, to use castor oil to vitalize the skin.

The seeds were sown early, but tree that would grow into Erma Jean’s Green began to bear fruit in 2016 when Cameron completed his academic and college basketball career and began to study herbalism.

His quest for truth and wisdom would lead him to discover the teachings of a man named Alfredo Bowman.

Alfredo Bowman was raised on the side of a mountain in Honduras. After three decades of heavy-drinking and poor eating habits, he was morbidly obese and suffered impotency. After facing morbid obesity and erectile dysfunction at age 30, “Fred” met a man from Mexico who told him that if he did not change his eating and drinking habits, he would not live much longer. Together, they fasted for 60 days. Fred lost over180-pounds and was completely healed from all previous ailments. That was the birth of the man who would grow to become Dr. Sebi.

Dr. Sebi would go on to help people all over the world heal from their various “diseases”, which Dr. Sebi considered as simply mineral deficiencies, resulting in the compromise of the body’s mucuous membrane.

Public figures such as Barack Obama, Shaquille O’neal, Left Eye and many others sought out Dr. Sebi to receive mentorship as much as the healing herbs that would alleviate their various issues. There was even an instance in which Dr. Sebi accompanied Michael Jackson to Capitol after assisting his babysitter, Grace Rwaramba, in healing from lupus (her symptoms disappeared in just 4 days).

After gaining popularity and national reputability, Dr. Sebi was charged in a federal indictments for practicing medicine without a license. He was acquitted of all charges at trial, and the same defamation that was meant to destroy Dr. Sebi’s reputation actually had the opposite effect: it catapulted him even further into the public eye and won him the favor of the people. The Usha Village in Honduras became a world-renowned center for healing.

Dr. Sebi’s legacy is survived by his former wives, good friends and children. The forerunner of all his children who are continuing their father’s efforts to heal God’s people is his youngest son, Victor Bowman.

Victor withdrew from high school at age 15 under the persuasion of his father who sought his assistance in the Usha Village. Since then, he has established herbal stores in America and continues to give lectures and free healing herbs throughout the nation.

Cameron was fortunate enough to meet Victor at a seminar during the summer of 2023, and the two young men have built a rapport as time has progressed. Now, Victor supplies the sea moss for Erma Jean’s Greens.
